I stumbled across a copy of Hitchhikers guide at a garage sale when i was twelve years old. It wasn't like anything i'd ever read before and i didn't quite understand why at that age, but i knew it was something special. So i read it again. And as i got older i kept it around and every year or so, I'd read it again. I'd go to my library and order the other books in the series, and thus started the snowball effect that i think has made me the most voracious consumer of all that is hitchhikers in the world. (with respect to M.J. Simpson, Adams Biographer.)

Reasons I Qualify.
1. The most important thing, and a prerequisite for every fan. I always know where my towel is, It's always in my satchel.

2. I always have my guide with me.

3. My guide has been reworded to have the words "Don't Panic" in large friendly letters on the cover.

4. Douglas Adams died on May 11th. On that day, me and my best friend Jessica go to a pub at lunchtime and split six pints of bitter in honor of Mr. Adams, in accordance with the opening chapters of hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. If May 11th falls on a weekday.... we take the day off. This year i moved across the country from Michigan to California. Jessica will be flying out here, indeed she already has her plane ticket, to make sure we don't miss our yearly pub date where we reflect and honor our departed friend. Only this year we get to go to the movie right afterwards.

5. Because of the lack of official hitchhiker apparel... i make my own. See my attached picture of my hitchhiker movie hat, and my H2G2 hoodie. I rock them out.

6. I offered people who got sneak preview tickets 50 dollars for their tickets, and intended to fly to L.A. Just to see the movie a few months early. Alas no one would part with their ticket.. and i dont' blame them.

7. I've read every major girlfriend at least the first Hitchhiker book. Some i read all of them to. Some went on and read the rest themselves. I even did voices for each character.

8. I have all the books read by douglas adams, have converted them to Mp3 and put them on my Mp3 player. I also have all the radio shows. Every bit of hitchhiker is with me at all times.

9. I've checked for hitchhiker news daily since the movie was greenlighted. Thats how i'm sitting here early in the california morning, typing this out and hoping i won't be late for work.

10. I've defended this production vehemently from all nay sayers and have great faith in the team behind it. Everything i've seen is fantastic.

11. And not least, I love the fans. My fellow fans are fantastic people, and even people involved higher up.. they're still fans. I can chat with people like Kevin Davies and MJ Simpson and Doulgas Adams own brother James. They're just hoopy froods that want to share what Douglas Adams wanted us so badly to see.

So thats it... i may well indeed be late for work, and this list isn't nearly complete.. i didn't mention every thing or every babel fish i've ever made out of molding materials. But you get the idea.



(P.S. after the movie comes out.. i'll finally be able to get those hitchhiker tattoos i've always wanted.)
